One thing I never do when autumn arrives is say goodbye to pink and the colours I love.

I know autumn decorating is often filled with burnt oranges, deep browns and dark greens, but I genuinely think soft pinks deserve a place too. They add warmth, keep a room feeling fresh and work beautifully alongside richer autumn tones.

Some of my favourite autumn colour combinations are:

• Soft pink and burgundy
• Blush pink and rust
• Pink with olive green
• Dusty rose with warm neutrals

Whether it's a pink mug for your morning coffee, a vase of dried flowers or a cosy pink cushion, these little touches prove you don't have to give up colour to embrace the season.

Your home should still feel like your home - just with a little extra autumn charm.

2. Create One Cosy Autumn Corner

You don’t need to transform your whole home to make it feel ready for autumn. Here in the UK we're not quite as 'devoted' as our wonderful US homes (love their passion though!) and it can feel VERY overwhelming.

Start with one small area that you use every day.

This might be:

• Your favourite chair
• A corner of the sofa
• A bedside table
• A kitchen shelf
• A reading nook
• A small area beside the fireplace

Add a warm lamp, a soft blanket, an autumn pumpkin candle and a favourite mug. You could also include a little pumpkin decoration, a stack of books or a small vase of seasonal flowers.

Always keep real candles away from soft furnishings, children and pets, and never leave a burning candle unattended. Battery-operated candles can create a similar glow in places where a real flame wouldn’t be practical.
